Shoulder & Arm Pain Treatment
The shoulder is the most complicated joint in the body and has to move through an incredible range of motion while maintaining strength and support. The shoulder actually has four joints that connect your humerus, collarbone and shoulder blade to function as one unit. Shoulder pain can occur for a variety of reasons, but is typically from poor posture, weakness of rotator cuff muscles (the muscles that support and stabalize your shoulder) or injury.
Since the shoulder motions are so complex, it takes experts in movement analysis to truly understand what is the root cause of your problem. Our Physical Therapists at Clearwater Physical Therapy have years of medical training in movement analysis to determine exactly where your pain is coming from. We put together a comprehensive treatment plan that will quickly relieve your pain and return your shoulder’s full range of motion and function.
Hip & Knee Pain Treatment
Our expert Physical Therapists at Fort McMurray Clearwater Physical Therapy, understand the complexities of hip movement and function. We examine your walking, movement, range of motion, strength and coordination. Our evaluations enable us to pinpoint the source of your pain and to develop a series of manual therapies and exercises to reduce your pain and restore normal function.
Limitations in movement and strength can dramatically affect the way your knee functions, causing increased pressure and pain. Physical Therapy restores the normal movement, strength and coordination and can help you quickly relieve pain and get back to normal activities.
Post Surgical Rehab
Your surgeon has done a fine job in surgery repairing your damaged body. However, this doesn’t guarantee full success in your ability to return to normal activities. Prior to and after surgery, joint motion and muscle strength are lost quickly. Proper rehabilitation is required to restore normal joint movement and return your strength.
Depending on the injury and type of surgery, this can be a simple rehabilitative process or a complicated recovery. Our expertise in treating many post surgical patients means we can achieve excellent outcomes for your recovery no matter the extent of your injury. We are with you every step of the way.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is used to encourage natural healing, improve mood and energy, reduce or relieve pain and improve function of affected areas of the body. It is safe and effective and is often successfully used as an alternative to medications or even surgery. Relief is often obtained with acupuncture when traditional medical therapy has failed.
Our Physical Therapists are well trained in assessment of injury and symptoms and will use Acupuncture as a treatment modality to complement other physical therapy treatment techniques.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling is a treatment technique to treat neuro-musclolskeletal systems based on pain patterns, muscular dysfunction and other unknown signs and symptoms. Dry Needling focuses on anatomy, neurology, and physiology, whereas acupuncture is a component of oriental medicine and focuses on energy flow, meridian channels, and treating the source of pain by “stimulating” various internal organ systems through various pre-determine needling locations.

We offer a variety of comprehensive programs for injured workers to help them recover quickly and safely. We provide effective case management, detailed and timely reports, and positive communication between health care providers, workers, and case managers for the worker’s compensation case.
Motor Vehicle Accidents
While personal injury due to a vehicle accident is common, it can often be severe, resulting in loss of work time and difficulty with day-to-day tasks. Don’t delay physical therapy treatment after an auto accident, the immediate effects may be subtle but can escalate into very painful conditions over time. We focus on returning Motor Vehicle Patients to pre-accident function through a closely monitored treatment program designed for accelerated results.
In most cases, insurance is obligated to pay for your rehabilitation cost if you are injured. Be sure to contact your insurance company when you have been involved in a MVA.
Sports Injury Treatments
Sports injuries can really set you back from your favorite activities and competitions. Furthermore, due to the high-speed nature of most sports injuries, the trauma to muscles, tissues, and joints can be severe. Common injuries include ligament sprains, muscle strains, and fractures. Do not wait until you are crippled with pain. The right physical therapy can effectively treat your sports injury to get you back to your activities pain-free and safely.
At Clearwater Physical Therapy, our Physical Therapists will evaluate your injury tailoring the treatment plan to your specific sport, style of play, and position. Vertigo & Dizziness
Physical therapy plays a crucial role in helping dizziness and vertigo, by performing several key treatments. Physical therapists can help you feel more in control and in some cases can achieve instant results with specialized procedures. In other cases, balance and coordination training diminish the symptoms and allow you to move without dizziness or vertigo.
Our expert physical therapists have years of training in movement and balance analysis. We evaluate your leg strength, movement, balance reflexes and much more to determine exactly where your balance problem lies. We then formulate a complete treatment plan that will improve your balance and train you on what you can do to maintain the improvement.

Relaxation Massage
Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish massage that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax. The Massage Therapist will move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure. There is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or “knots” in the muscle tissue, which can be uncomfortable and cause some people tense up against the pressure.
In a Relaxation massage, the therapist won’t push your pain limits in order to get the muscle to release. You might even fall asleep! It’s a good choice for someone who is getting a massage for the first time, or someone who just wants to bring their stress level down.
Relaxation massage is also good for someone who get massage as a special treat once a year. It’s not realistic to expect that you can get rid of all your knots in one massage. But to drift into a deeply relaxed state in fifty minutes — that’s doable!
There are substantial health benefits to a relaxation massage. Gentle massage stimulates sensory nerve endings in the skin, which transmit messages through the nervous system and cause the brain to release endorphins. These are the body’s natural painkillers, feel-good chemicals that create a sense of well-being.
Massage further aids relaxation by stimulating the body’s parasympathetic nervous system, sometimes called the “rest and digest system.” Blood pressure decreases, heart rate slows, and digestive activity increases. Relaxation massage also increase blood circulation and stimulates the body’s lymphatic system, which carries away waste products.
Therapeutic Sports Massage
Sports massage therapy is geared toward varies types of athletes. From the beginners/ weekend runners to the high endurance competitive athletes and professionals. This type of massage techniques are specific to the athlete’s sport of choice. Focusing on areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.
Aspects of sports massage therapy are gaining popularity as useful components in a balanced training regimen. Sports massage therapy can be used as a means to enhance pre-event preparation and reduce recovery time for maximum performance during training or after an event. Athletes have discovered that specially designed sports massage promotes flexibility, reduces fatigue, improves endurance, helps prevent injuries and prepares their body and mind for optimal performance.
One of the key benefits of Sports massage therapy compared to other modalities is its ability to target muscle-tendon junctions. A 2010 study in the journal of Strength and Conditioning Research found that even a 30-second massage improved hip-flexor range of motion. Another study conducted by Margaret Jones, Ph.D. of the American College of Sports Medicine, demonstrated a notable trend toward decreased muscle soreness in the athletes who received massage either before or after exercise.
For anyone participating in regular physical activity, Sports massage therapy every week or two may be a great addition to your normal regimen. It’s best to talk with one of our highly trained Registered Massage Therapists to find a plan that will work best with your schedule, level of activity and budget.
We also are able to Direct Bill many insurance companies, call now and find out information about your benefit provider.

Deep tissue massage is a type of massage therapy that focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. It is especially helpful for chronic aches and pains and contracted areas such as stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.
Some of the same strokes are used as classic massage therapy, but the movement is slower and the pressure is deeper and concentrated on areas of tension and pain in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles).
